GTA 6 Pre-Order Guide: Price, Editions & Bonuses (2026)

GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 — Standard at $79.99, Ultimate at $99.99, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Here is my honest, no-hype breakdown of what each edition includes, where to buy, physical versus digital, and why there is still no PC pre-order.

Can I pre-order GTA 6, and how much does it cost?

Yes. GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 (US pricing). Physical copies are sold as download codes. The game launches November 19, 2026. There is no PC pre-order because Rockstar has not announced a PC version — anyone selling a GTA 6 PC pre-order right now is not legitimate. Always confirm details on the Rockstar Newswire.

If you searched “GTA 6 pre order,” you probably want three things answered fast: is it actually live, how much does it cost, and which edition is worth buying. I'll give you all of that up front, then go deep on the details so you can decide with clear eyes instead of hype. Everything here is separated into what Rockstar has confirmed and what is still my read of the situation — because a lot of what floats around online blends the two, and that's exactly how people end up overpaying or, worse, buying from a fake listing.

Here is the anchor the whole guide hangs on: GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, the game launches on November 19, 2026, and it is currently a console release only — PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in US pricing. Physical copies exist, but they are download codes rather than full-game discs. There is no PC pre-order, no PC price, and no announced PC version at all.

I've been building PCs and following Rockstar's launch playbook for years, and the PC question is the one I get asked most. So while this guide is mostly about the console pre-order you can actually place today, I've also written an honest section on the PC outlook, and I keep a separate companion piece on when GTA 6 is coming to PC that I'll update the moment Rockstar posts anything official. Let's get into it.

1. Quick Answer: GTA 6 Pre-Order at a Glance

Short on time? Here is the entire pre-order situation in a few lines, with the confirmed facts kept separate from anything I'm predicting.

GTA 6 Pre-Order — The Short Version

  • Pre-orders opened (confirmed): June 25, 2026.
  • Release date (confirmed): November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
  • Standard Edition (confirmed): $79.99 (US pricing).
  • Ultimate Edition (confirmed): $99.99 (US pricing).
  • Physical copies: sold as download codes, not full-game discs.
  • PC pre-order: does not exist. No PC version has been announced.
  • PC prediction (estimate): a PC release is likely later, my unofficial window is late 2027 to 2028.
  • How to verify everything: the only source that matters is the Rockstar Newswire. If it isn't there, it isn't confirmed.

If you take one thing away: the pre-order is real and console-only, the prices are fixed at $79.99 and $99.99, and there is no legitimate PC pre-order anywhere. Everything else in this guide is about helping you pick the right edition, the right format, and the right place to buy — and about steering you clear of the scams that always crop up around a launch this size.

Planning to play on PC eventually?

Since there's no PC pre-order yet, the smartest thing you can do now is understand where your rig stands. Drop your GPU into the FPS Calculator to see how it handles demanding modern open-world games — the closest proxy we have for a CPU-heavy title like GTA 6 until real requirements land.

2. What's Confirmed vs What's Not

Before you spend a rupee, dollar, or pound, it helps to know exactly which details are locked in and which are still open. Rockstar has confirmed a surprising amount about the release and the pre-order, but the PC side is a total blank. Here is a clean line drawn between the two.

Rows marked “Confirmed” come from Rockstar's own announcements. Rows marked “Predicted” or “Check listing” are my analysis or a pointer to the official page, not a Rockstar statement. Regional prices differ from the US figures shown.

Why This Distinction Matters for a Pre-Order

A pre-order is money handed over before the product exists in your hands, so the difference between “confirmed” and “probably” is your money. The price and platforms are locked, which is why I'm comfortable telling you the $79.99 and $99.99 figures are safe to plan around for US buyers. The exact contents of the Ultimate Edition are the sort of detail Rockstar spells out on its own product page, so I'd check that page rather than trust a third-party summary. And the PC version simply isn't a thing you can buy yet, full stop — which is the single most important guardrail against getting scammed.

3. GTA 6 Price: How Much Does It Cost?

Let's deal with the number everyone wants first. In the United States, GTA 6 is $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Both prices are for the console versions on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That's the confirmed pricing, and it's the same whether you buy digitally through the console stores or physically as a boxed download code.

Why $79.99 and Not $69.99?

A lot of people expected the old $59.99 or the more recent $69.99 standard for big releases, so the $79.99 sticker surprised some buyers. The honest context is that the industry has been drifting toward higher headline prices for its biggest, most expensive productions, and GTA 6 is about as big and expensive as games get. I'm not here to tell you whether that price is “fair” — that's your call — but I can tell you it's the confirmed figure, not a rumor, and that the Ultimate's $20 step up buys you extra content rather than a different base game.

Regional Pricing Will Differ

The $79.99 and $99.99 figures are US dollars. If you're buying from India, the UK, the EU, Australia, or anywhere else, your price will be set in local currency and will include local taxes, so it won't be a simple currency conversion of the US number. Some regions land higher or lower in real terms depending on how the platform holder and Rockstar price for that market. The only reliable way to see your exact local price is to open the game's listing on your regional PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store, or check a participating local retailer. Don't assume; look it up for your country.

EditionUS PriceWhat Sets the Final Price
Standard$79.99Region, local currency, and local taxes
Ultimate$99.99Region, local currency, and local taxes

US pricing is confirmed. Prices in other regions vary and are set on your local store. Always confirm the amount at checkout before paying.

A note on “deals”

Brand-new blockbuster games almost never get real discounts at launch. If you see a listing claiming a steep GTA 6 pre-order discount, treat it with suspicion — it's far more likely to be a grey-market key, a regional trick, or an outright scam than a genuine deal. I don't chase launch-day discounts on games like this, and I'd gently suggest you don't either.

4. GTA 6 Editions Compared: Standard vs Ultimate

There are two editions at pre-order: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. The choice is genuinely simple — both are the same complete game; the Ultimate just bundles extra content on top. Here's how I'd frame the decision, followed by a side-by-side.

The Standard Edition ($79.99)

The Standard Edition is the full GTA 6 game and nothing extra. If you mainly care about playing through the story and jumping into whatever online component ships, this is the no-nonsense choice. You are not missing any part of the actual game by buying Standard — you're only skipping the bonus package that comes with the Ultimate. For a lot of players, especially anyone who isn't deep into the online economy, Standard is the sensible pick.

The Ultimate Edition ($99.99)

The Ultimate Edition is the base game plus a bundle of extra content for an additional $20. Per Rockstar's own listing, that typically means a package of bonus in-game items and rewards — the kind of content that gives you a head start or some cosmetic and gameplay extras, particularly on the online side. I'm deliberately not going to invent a specific list of item names here, because the exact contents are Rockstar's to define and they're spelled out on the official product page. If the bonuses matter to you, read that page carefully before you commit, rather than trusting any third-party summary (including a summary that tries to list every item).

The Ultimate Edition's exact bonus contents are defined by Rockstar and listed on the official GTA VI page. Confirm them there before buying; I'm describing categories, not a guaranteed item list.

Which One Should You Buy?

My honest read: if you're primarily here for the single-player story, the Standard Edition is the value pick, and you lose nothing that matters to your playthrough. If you know you'll pour serious time into GTA 6's online mode and you want the head-start bonuses, the Ultimate's extra $20 can be worth it — but only if you've actually read what those bonuses are and decided they matter to you. Don't buy up out of fear of missing out. Buy up because a specific bonus you saw on the official page is something you genuinely want.

Can You Upgrade From Standard to Ultimate Later?

This is a fair question if you're leaning Standard but worried about regretting it. Some games offer an in-store or in-game upgrade path that lets you pay the difference to move up to a premium edition after launch, and some don't. Rockstar hasn't detailed an upgrade path here, so I wouldn't assume one exists. My practical advice: if the Ultimate bonuses genuinely appeal to you, buy Ultimate up front rather than banking on upgrading later; if they don't, buy Standard with a clear conscience, because the base game is complete on its own. Don't pay extra for an edition on the assumption you can undo the choice cheaply.

Verify the edition contents at the source

The definitive edition breakdown lives on the official GTA VI page. If a detail here and a detail there ever disagree, believe Rockstar's page over any article, mine included.

5. GTA 6 Pre-Order Bonuses Explained

“Pre-order bonus” can mean two different things, and mixing them up is how people end up confused. Let me split them cleanly so you know what you're actually getting.

Edition Bonuses vs Pre-Order Bonuses

Edition bonuses are the extras that come with the Ultimate Edition regardless of when or where you buy it. Those are the bundled items and rewards I described in the last section, and they're defined by Rockstar on the official product page. You get them because you bought the Ultimate Edition, not because you pre-ordered.

Pre-order bonuses, in the traditional sense, are incentives offered specifically for ordering before launch — sometimes an early-unlock item, sometimes a small in-game reward. Rockstar and its retail partners decide whether any such incentive exists and what it is. Rather than guess at specifics, my advice is simple: whatever incentive you see attached to a listing, confirm it on Rockstar's own page and on the specific retailer's page before you assume it applies. If a bonus isn't described on the official listing, treat it as unconfirmed.

How to Judge Whether a Bonus Is Worth It

I use a boring but effective test: would I want this content if it cost me a few dollars on its own? If yes, and the edition or pre-order price difference is roughly in that ballpark, it can be worth it. If the “bonus” is a handful of cosmetic items I'll never notice, I don't let it push me into a pricier edition. Bonuses are designed to make the upsell feel obvious; your job is to be a little skeptical and decide based on what you actually play.

Don't let bonuses rush you

A bonus is only a good reason to pre-order if you were going to buy the game anyway and the bonus is genuinely something you want. It is never a good reason to buy from a sketchy third-party site promising an exclusive item you can't verify. When in doubt, buy from the official console store or a major, reputable retailer.

6. Where to Pre-Order GTA 6

There are two broad ways to pre-order: digitally through your console's store, or physically through a retailer as a boxed download code. Both get you the same game. Here's the availability landscape, including the row everyone keeps asking about.

Platform & Pre-Order Availability

PlatformPre-Order?How You Buy
PlayStation 5AvailablePlayStation Store (digital) or retailers (physical code)
Xbox Series X|SAvailableMicrosoft Store (digital) or retailers (physical code)
PC (Steam / Epic / Rockstar)Not yetNo PC version announced; no legitimate PC pre-order exists
PS4 / Xbox OneNoNot a launch platform; current-gen consoles only
Nintendo Switch / Switch 2NoNot announced for these platforms

The “PC: not yet” row is the important one. There is no announced PC version, so any PC or Steam pre-order listing you encounter is not legitimate.

Buying Digitally (PlayStation Store / Microsoft Store)

The most straightforward route is your console's own store. Open the PlayStation Store on a PS5 or the Microsoft Store on an Xbox Series X|S, search for GTA 6, and you'll see the Standard and Ultimate editions with your regional price. The upside of a digital pre-order is convenience: the game pre-loads so it's ready to play at launch, and there's no code to lose. The downside is that you can't resell or lend a digital copy the way you could a disc — though with GTA 6's physical version being a download code anyway, that trade-off is smaller than usual this time.

Buying Physically (Retailers)

Major retailers take physical pre-orders too. Because the boxed copy is a download code rather than a full-game disc, the practical experience ends up close to buying digitally — you still download the game — but some people prefer having a box on the shelf, and retailers occasionally attach their own incentives. If you go physical, buy from a reputable, well-known retailer, and check exactly what's in the box (the code, the edition, and any listed extras) before you commit.

A Quick Anti-Scam Checklist

A launch this size attracts fraud, so before you enter payment details anywhere, run down this short list. It has saved me and plenty of readers from bad purchases.

  • Is the price too good? A brand-new blockbuster won't be heavily discounted at launch. A price well under $79.99 is a warning sign, not a win.
  • Do you recognize the seller? Stick to the official PlayStation and Microsoft stores or large, established retailers. Unknown key sites are the highest-risk option.
  • Does it claim a PC or Steam key? There is no PC version, so a “GTA 6 PC key” is automatically fake. Walk away.
  • Does the listing match Rockstar's? If the platforms, editions, or bonuses don't line up with the official page, don't trust it.
  • Are they asking for account credentials? No legitimate seller needs your console account password to sell you a game — that's an account-theft attempt.

Rule of thumb

If you can't explain who you're buying from and why the price is what it is, don't buy. The safest pre-orders are the boring ones: your console's official store, or a large, recognizable retailer. Everything exotic around a launch this big is where the risk lives.

7. Physical vs Digital: Which Should You Buy?

Normally the physical-versus-digital debate hinges on whether you get a real disc you can resell. GTA 6 changes that math, because the physical copy is a download code, not a play-from-disc game. That single fact narrows the gap between the two formats a lot. Here's how I'd think about it.

The Case for Digital

  • Pre-load and play at launch: a digital pre-order lets the game download ahead of time so you can start the moment it unlocks, with no midnight trip to a store.
  • Nothing to lose or misplace: no box, no code slip, no shipping delay.
  • Tied to your account: the game lives in your library and reinstalls whenever you want.

The Case for Physical

  • A collectible box: some people simply like owning a boxed copy of a landmark release, even when the disc is really a code.
  • Possible retailer extras: individual stores sometimes bundle their own small incentives with a physical pre-order.
  • Gifting: a boxed copy is easier to wrap and hand to someone than a digital gift.

Because the physical edition is a download code, the traditional physical advantages — reselling the disc, lending it, playing without a big download — mostly don't apply here. So for most people, I'd lean digital for the pure convenience of pre-loading, and only go physical if you specifically want the box or a particular retailer's offer. Neither choice changes the game you get.

Plan Your Storage Before Launch

One practical thing both formats share: you'll need free space, and a game this big won't be small. Rockstar hasn't published the final install size, but modern open-world blockbusters routinely run into the tens or even over a hundred gigabytes, and they tend to grow with updates. If you pre-order digitally to pre-load, make sure your console has enough room well before launch day so the download can finish in the background. If you buy physically, remember you're still downloading the game from the code, so the same storage planning applies. Clearing space early is the difference between playing at unlock and staring at a progress bar.

8. Retailer Differences to Watch

Whether you buy digitally or physically, the storefront you choose can matter in small ways. Here's what actually differs between retailers — and what doesn't.

What Genuinely Varies

  • Local price and currency: the same edition can show a different number depending on your regional store and its taxes. This is the biggest real difference for most buyers.
  • Store-specific incentives: some retailers occasionally attach their own small extras or store credit to a pre-order. Read the fine print, and don't overvalue it.
  • Payment and refund policies: the console stores and physical retailers each have their own rules for cancelling a pre-order (more on that next).
  • Delivery for physical copies: shipping speed and launch-day availability differ by store and region.

What Doesn't Change

  • The game itself: the Standard and Ultimate editions are identical no matter where you buy them. There's no “better version” hiding at a particular store.
  • The edition bonuses: the Ultimate Edition's bundled content comes from Rockstar, so it's the same across legitimate retailers.
  • The platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, everywhere. No retailer can sell you a PC or last-gen version that doesn't exist.

The one difference that can burn you

Grey-market key resellers and unfamiliar sites are where the real risk lives. A key that's cheaper than the official price is a red flag, not a bargain — it may be region-locked, fraudulently obtained, or simply never delivered. I stick to the official console stores and major retailers for a launch like this, and I'd strongly suggest the same.

9. Refunds & Cancelling a Pre-Order

Plans change, and a pre-order isn't a life sentence. The exact rules depend on where you bought, so I'll give you the general shape rather than pretend there's one universal policy. Always check the specific store's current terms, because platforms update these over time.

Digital Pre-Orders (Console Stores)

In general, digital pre-orders on the major console stores can be cancelled for a refund before the game releases, since you haven't downloaded and started playing it yet. The window and the exact process differ between the PlayStation and Microsoft ecosystems, and both have posted their own pre-order and refund policies. If you think there's any chance you'll change your mind, read your store's refund policy before you pay so you know the cut-off and the steps.

Physical Pre-Orders (Retailers)

Physical pre-orders follow the retailer's own cancellation policy. Many major stores let you cancel a pre-order for a refund up until the item ships or is picked up, but the specifics — including whether any deposit is refundable — are set by that retailer. Keep your order confirmation, and check the store's pre-order terms so you know your options.

After Launch

Once the game unlocks and you download or start playing it, refunds get much harder. Digital storefronts generally treat a game you've begun playing as non-refundable, and a redeemed download code is usually final. That's the practical reason I only pre-order things I'm genuinely confident I want: the easy exit is before launch, not after.

Before you pay, know your exit

Whichever route you choose, spend two minutes reading that store's pre-order and refund policy first. Policies change and vary by region, so the current official terms on the store page are the only ones that count — not a summary in any article.

10. Is There a GTA 6 PC Pre-Order? (No)

This is the question I get more than any other, so let me be blunt: there is no GTA 6 PC pre-order. Rockstar has not announced a PC version at all — no date, no price, no storefront listing, and no system requirements. Every pre-order that opened on June 25, 2026 is for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S console versions. If you play on PC, there is currently nothing legitimate for you to pre-order.

Why the PC Version Isn't Here Yet

Rockstar has launched its biggest games on console first every single time, then brought them to PC later — usually a year or more after the console release. It's a deliberate strategy: consoles are fixed hardware that's easier to optimize and test against, a staggered PC release protects the console launch window, and the PC port needs extra engineering for a huge range of hardware, drivers, anti-cheat, and features like uncapped frame rates and ultrawide support. That work simply can't be rushed out alongside consoles.

My PC Release Prediction (Unofficial)

Based on the console-to-PC gaps for GTA 5 (around 18 months) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (around 13 months), my estimate is a GTA 6 PC launch somewhere in late 2027 to 2028, most likely landing in 2028. I want to be crystal clear that this is a prediction from Rockstar's track record, not a leak or an announcement. A PC release is very likely given every mainline GTA has eventually reached PC — but until Rockstar confirms it, treat it as expected rather than guaranteed. I break the whole timeline down in my guide on when GTA 6 is coming to PC.

Watch Out for Fake PC Pre-Orders

Because there's no official PC version, any site claiming to sell a “GTA 6 PC pre-order” or a Steam key right now should be treated as a scam until Rockstar says otherwise. Don't hand over money, card details, or account information to buy a PC copy that doesn't exist. The only place a real PC announcement will appear is the Rockstar Newswire, so that's the one page to keep an eye on.

What PC Players Can Actually Do Now

If you're a PC player, the useful move isn't buying anything — it's preparing. With a predicted late-2027-to-2028 window, you have time on your side, which is exactly what you want when buying hardware: prices fall, new GPUs and CPUs launch, and you avoid overpaying a year early. Start by checking where your current rig stands, then upgrade the cheap, high-impact parts (RAM and an SSD) when it makes sense, and save the big GPU purchase for when the game is close and real requirements exist. My GTA 6 PC system requirements breakdown and my GTA 6 PC build guide go deeper on both.

Plan a GTA 6-ready PC without overspending

When it's time to build, the PC Builder helps you put together a CPU, GPU, RAM, and PSU that actually fit together, with compatibility checks along the way. Your first 3 builds are free. Pair it with the FPS Calculator to sanity-check performance before you spend.

11. Should You Pre-Order GTA 6? My Honest Take

I'm generally cautious about pre-orders. A lot of games don't need to be bought early — you can wait for reviews, patches, and sometimes a small discount. GTA 6 is a slightly different case, and I'll tell you exactly how I'd think about it rather than push you either way.

Reasons a Pre-Order Makes Sense Here

  • You own a PS5 or Series X and know you'll play at launch: a digital pre-order pre-loads the game so you're ready the moment it unlocks, with no launch-day scramble.
  • You want the Ultimate bonuses and have read what they are: if a specific bonus on the official page genuinely appeals to you, locking it in is reasonable.
  • You value convenience over a possible future discount: blockbuster games like this rarely discount quickly, so waiting may not save you much for a long time.

Reasons to Hold Off

  • You're a PC player: there's nothing for you to buy yet, and rushing to pre-order a console copy you won't play doesn't help you.
  • You're unsure about the $79.99 or $99.99 price: nothing is lost by waiting a little. The game isn't going anywhere, and you can decide after launch.
  • You're tempted by a “deal” from an unknown seller: that's not a reason to pre-order, it's a reason to walk away.

How I'd Personally Handle It

If I owned a current-gen console and knew I wanted GTA 6 at launch, I'd pre-order digitally from the official store, pick Standard unless a specific Ultimate bonus won me over, and enjoy the pre-load. If I were a PC-only player, I'd pre-order nothing, keep an eye on the Newswire, and quietly plan my hardware over the next couple of years while prices and options improve. Neither path involves handing money to a mystery seller or paying up for bonuses I haven't actually read about. That's the whole philosophy: buy deliberately, from a trustworthy place, for reasons you can explain.

12. Frequently Asked Questions

How much does GTA 6 cost?

In the US, GTA 6 is $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Prices in other regions are set in local currency with local taxes, so they won't be a straight conversion of the US figures — check your local PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or retailer for the exact amount. There's no PC price because Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version.

When did GTA 6 pre-orders open?

Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions only. The game launches on November 19, 2026. You can pre-order digitally through the console stores or physically through participating retailers, where the boxed copy is a download code rather than a full-game disc.

What's the difference between the Standard and Ultimate editions?

The Standard Edition ($79.99) is the complete base game. The Ultimate Edition ($99.99) is the same base game plus a bundle of extra content — typically bonus in-game items and online rewards, per Rockstar's listing. The exact contents are defined by Rockstar, so confirm them on the official GTA VI page before you buy.

Can I pre-order GTA 6 on PC or Steam?

No. There's no GTA 6 PC or Steam pre-order because Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version. Every pre-order is for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Based on how Rockstar handled GTA 5 and RDR2, a PC release is likely later — my unofficial estimate is late 2027 to 2028. Any site selling a GTA 6 PC pre-order today should be treated as a scam. See my full GTA 6 PC release date breakdown for the reasoning.

Is a physical GTA 6 copy a disc or a download code?

The physical copy is effectively a download code for the console version. Even boxed editions require downloading the game rather than installing it entirely from a disc, which is standard for a modern release this size. Digital or physical, it's a console purchase — there's no PC box, because there's no announced PC version.

13. My Final Word

Here's the whole thing in a paragraph. GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, the game launches November 19, 2026, and it's a console release — PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in US pricing, with regional prices set on your local store. Physical copies are download codes, not full discs. The Ultimate adds a content bundle whose exact contents live on Rockstar's official page, so read that before you pay the extra $20.

And the part I'll keep repeating: there is no GTA 6 PC pre-order. No PC version has been announced — no date, no price, no storefront — so any PC or Steam pre-order you see is not legitimate. A PC release is very likely later given Rockstar's history, with my unofficial estimate being late 2027 to 2028, but until it's confirmed, PC players should prepare their hardware rather than buy anything.

My honest advice doesn't change: buy deliberately, from the official console store or a major retailer, pick the edition that matches how you actually play, read the refund policy before you pay, and ignore any seller promising a mysterious discount or an impossible PC key. If you play on PC, the smart move is patience plus a little groundwork — and I'll update this guide the moment Rockstar posts anything official.

The only sources worth trusting for anything on this page are Rockstar's own: the Rockstar Newswire and the official GTA VI page.
